I spent a couple of days this week in Glasgow, checking out event venues (as well as one or two favourite watering houses and restaurants of course!).

I found myself having a few days available for a wee break over the weekend in between tastings so we booked a fabulous cottage in a beautiful part of Norfolk in the marshes alongside the picturesque River Yare! It was nice to enjoy a few drams during the evenings whilst enjoying the views and the wildlife @marshcottagesurlingham

One of the best things about heading back and forth to Scotland is that I get to enjoy plenty of nights in Glasgow and no visit to my favourite city is complete without spending a couple of hours relaxing in @thepotstill

We love a classic gin and tonic in the summer and as the temperatures are set to rise we'll be seeking a shaded part of the garden here at Distilled Events HQ to enjoy one or two!

Great single malt Scotch whisky and chocolate can be a perfect pairing. We regularly host tastings where we pair our favourite drams with beautiful handmade chocolates from The Highland Chocolatier from Grandtully near Pitlochry in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Iain the owner himself helps us to decide on some of our pairings and sometimes even creates a chocolate to match a particular flavour of one of the malts we use in our tastings.

All of the single malt Scotch whiskies that I present in our tastings are ones that I love or have a personal connection to. Of late I've been including the fantastic Glen Garioch 12 year old in most of our tastings. We visited Glen Garioch distillery along with our 10 guests on our Guided Speyside Distilleries Experience a little earlier this year. The team at the distillery gave us an amazing experience during our visit and our guests enjoyed a whisky and cheese pairing.

Before I moved to Islay I bottled rare single malt whiskies under the Queen of the Moorlands Single Malt Whisky label.

Having the opportunity to taste special single cask single malt whiskies at the place where they were distilled and matured is extremely exciting for us and for our guests. When we put together the itinerary for our week long Guided Distillery Experiences we always include exclusive private whisky tastings at distilleries where our guests can relax, enjoy some wonderful rare whiskies and to engage with the distillery team.

It has been all about the gins today with two private tastings in the Peak District National Park!

My job takes me to spectacular places. I'm lucky that talking about whisky takes me all over the UK and sometimes even further afield.
