We had a fantastic time hosting a corporate whisky tasting for One Identity at the Gartner IAM Conference at the O2 InterContinental Hotel in London.

One of the very best things about the job I do is that I can be looking after guests at distilleries in depths of the beautiful Highlands of Scotland one day and hosting a bespoke whisky tasting in the heart of London the next! Last night I hosted a whisky and choclolate pairing with chocolates hand made by The Highland Chocolatier from Grantully near Pitlochry for a client in their beautiful event space in their offices in Canary Wharf. I've been an incredibly lucky whisky enthusiast. Not long before this photo was taken in 2005 I had first stepped foot in a damp dunnage warehouse on Islay. It changed my life. I love to take my guests on my Guided Distillery Experiences into dunnage warehouses, to give them that experience that I had the first time I did the same. I think it creates an incredible emotional and sensory connection to a distillery once you've explored one of it's warehouses and experienced the aromas created by the sea, the weather and the angel's share.

There's a very busy week ahead of us and the magic box this week! Tonight I'm hosting a whisky tasting in Richmond, North Yorkshire, Tuesday I'm hosting a corporate whisky tasting in Canary Wharf, Thursday we are hosting a tasting at a conference at the O2 Intercontinental Hotel, London, Friday we are back in Glasgow for another whisky tasting finishing the mini tour off in the Peak District on Saturday. Great to be busy again!

I host gin tastings all over the UK. Like whisky, when a gin is good it speaks about the place where it was born, it speaks of placeness and terroir. For me, when a gin is good, the distiller paints a picture of the place where it was skilfully produced, using botanicals foraged from the fields and woodlands or from nearby sea cliffs to accompany and compliment the prevalent juniper flavours.

The whiskies I show in my tasting experiences change regularly but they are always drams close to my heart. The set list my guests enjoyed at Picture House Social in Sheffield made for one of the very best tastings I've ever hosted. The best not least because I included whiskies that I've been involved in making but also drams from distilleries that inspired me on our recent Guided Distillery Experience in Speyside and the Highlands.
