We are just back from hosting a series of whisky tastings at the O2 Intercontinental Hotel in London at the Forrester B2B Summit. We had a great time pairing beautiful hand made chocolates from The Highland Chocolatier in Grandtully near Pitlochry in The Highlands with wonderful single malt whiskies from around Scotland.

All of our whisky tastings in London are hosted by David Wood. David used to be Distillery Manager at one of the largest and most iconic malt whisky distilleries in Scotland, the mighty Caol Ila Distillery on the Isle of Islay in the Hebrides. The chocolates that we serve have been skilfully made to pair perfectly with specific single malt whiskies. At your tasting, as well as talking about each of the drams we have served we will explain exactly why we have selected each of the chocolates you enjoy with them.

Your whisky tasting in London will be hosted by David Wood. David has worked with whisky for nearly 30 years. He has worked in every aspect of the industry from working at the coal face of whisky production in iconic distilleries in Scotland to bottling and retailing his own single malt whiskies. For many years David was Distillery Manager at the mighty Caol Ila Distillery on the remote Isle of Islay in the Hebrides.

You can be sure that when we host a whisky tasting for you that your guests will find it to be an enjoyable, engaging, informative and above all authentic experience.

We provide everything needed for the tasting including the chocolates, the whisky, water and glassware. Usually our clients arrange the venue for the tasting but if this is not possible we can suggest some venues for you to consider.

Each of our whisky tasting experiences in London are hosted by distiller David Wood. David has worked with whisky for nearly 30 years and has vast experience of all aspects of the industry from working at the coal face of iconic distilleries across the West coast of Scotland to bottling and retailing quality single malt Scotch whiskies. David has hosted many whisky tasting events across Europe, both while he was Distillery Manager at the mighty Caol Ila Distillery on the Hebridean island of Islay and more recently as owner of Distilled Events.

Distilled Events is totally independent, we are not tied to any brands. This means we can serve whiskies that we love and quality drams that we are passionate about because they speak about where they were distilled and matured.

Provenance, placeness and terroir is very important to us. If you have particular preferences of which single malt whiskies you would like us to present, we can do that too.

Whisky Tasting Aboard The Silver Dolphin, Loch Lomond

Corporate Whisky and Chocolate Pairing in Scotland

We were delighted to be asked to host a whisky and chocolate pairing by a Glasgow company who were looking after a group of 50 guests in the Loch Lomond area, keeping them entertained with lots of different activities in the hills and glens of the southern Highlands.

The Silver Dolphin

The whisky and chocolate pairing took place on board The Silver Dolphin which is a cruiser operated by Sweeney’s Cruise Company. I arrived at the ferry landing at Balloch in plenty of time to set up my glasses and pour the drams before we set off to collect our guests from Cameron House on the shores of Loch Lomond.

During the tasting our guests enjoyed 3 single malt Scotch whiskies perfectly paired with 3 beautiful handmade chocolates from The Highland Chocolatier in Grandtully, a small village that sits between Aberfeldy and Pitlochry in the Highlands. Each of the chocolates were created by Ian Burnett to pair specifically with each whisky. Here are the pairings that we decided to show:

Auchentoshan 12 year old Lowland single malt whisky – Orange with a hint of clove velvet truffle

Bunnahabhain 12 year old Islay single malt whisky – Espresso velvet truffle

Caol Ila 12 year old Islay single malt whisky – Lemongrass and lime velvet praline

London Whisky Tastings

We were back in London last week hosting private whisky tastings. We hosted whisky tastings for clients at two venue venues in central London. The first was at The In and Out Naval and Military Club in St James’s Square not far from Pall Mall. The second of our whisky tastings was at a venue where we have hosted many whisky tastings in the past, The Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall.
