Whisky Tastings in the Peak District with Distilled Events

If you are planning a Stag party in the Peak District National Park and you would like an exclusive activity a whisky tasting is the perfect way to keep your group entertained.

I host whisky tastings in the Peak District as well as everywhere else in the UK and sometimes further afield. I used to be Distillery Manager at one of the largest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland the mighty and iconic Caol Ila Distillery on the Hebridean island of Islay, so my tastings are as authentic as can be as well as fun and engaging.

The Whisky Tasting

Each of our whisky tastings are different and I can tailor it to fit your itinerary of activities. Usually when I host a whisky tasting for a stag party it will last for around 90 minutes during which time guests taste 6 special single malt whiskies from around Scotland.

I often present whiskies that have been made in places I have lived or worked, or from distilleries that I have visited and particularly enjoyed. See the bottom of the post for links to some of the distilleries I often feature in my tastings.

What is Included in Your Stag Party Whisky Tasting

  • A 90 minute tasting experience including 6 single malt whiskies
  • Whisky industry expert to host the tasting
  • A brief history of Scotch whisky and how it is made
  • Plenty of time for all your whisky related questions to be answered
  • All glassware provided

Prices start from just £30 per person based on a minimum group size of 12 people.

Some of My Favourite Distilleries

Each of my tastings are different. I am totally independent so I can present any whiskies that I wish. I do however have some favourites that appear quite regularly in my tastings. I’m lucky enough to have lived on the Isle of Skye for a while and I love Talisker. I worked at three different distilleries on the Isle of Islay, Bunnahabhain, Lagavulin and Caol Ila so they quite often make an appearance in my tastings.

I host week long Guided Distillery Experiences in Scotland for guests from all over the world so I’ve visited many distilleries. If I’ve visited a distillery and particularly enjoyed the experience I’ll often present their whiskies too. Here are some links to some of the distilleries:

Pairing great single malts with beautiful handmade chocolates is a fantastic way of introducing people who haven’t yet began their Scotch whisky journey.

This tasting works really well where guests within the party are a mixture of guests who already seasoned whisky enthusiasts but also for those who haven’t experienced the amber nectar before.

Whisky and Chocolate Pairing

During these very special tastings we serve classic single malt whiskies with beautiful handmade chocolates from The Highland Chocolatier in Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands. These chocolates have been specially prepared to pair perfectly with specific single malt whiskies.

A sit down tutored tasting usually lasts around 90 minutes to 2 hours but we can tailor it to work with the timings of your event. We can also offer this tasting on a very informal basis and works well as an add on to your event whether it be at a drinks reception or on a conference stand. It is a great way to engage with and entertain your clients whilst they network.

We provide everything needed for the whisky and chocolate tasting including:

  • Chocolates to pair with each whisky

Join Distilled Events for an Exclusive Whisky Tasting in Sheffield

We would love to see you at one of our exclusive single malt whisky tasting experiences at Picture House Social, Abbeydale Road in Sheffield in 2023. We regularly hold whisky tasting events in Sheffield and we have initially selected 4 dates for our events in Sheffield for 2023.

If you join one of our tastings your host will be David Wood. David was distillery manager at his favourite distillery, the mighty Caol Ila on the Isle of Islay in the Hebrides. Your tasting will take place in the cinema room at Picture House Social where you will learn all about the history of Scotch and how it makes the journey from field to table. As part of the experience you will be taken on a virtual tour of a distillery, the perfect opportunity to ask questions and to learn all about what life is like living and working at a remote Hebridean malt whisky distillery.

During the tasting you will enjoy 6 classic single malt whiskies from around Scotland. You will learn a little about each of the distilleries that has produced the beautiful single malt whiskies that you are tasting and David will talk you through his tasting notes for each dram. There are no right or wrong answers, it is all personal, if you are tasting bananas in the whisky, bananas it is!

What Is Involved In a Stag Party Whisky Tasting?

When you arrange a whisky tasting for your stag party with us we will liaise with you to ensure that the event is designed to fit around your other activities, and that the tasting commences at a time convenient to you. That might be before dinner, with dinner (I can pair the whiskies with each course), or as after dinner entertainment.

I bring all of the whisky, the glassware, tasting notes, all I need you to provide me with is some space to conduct the tasting. Some times I’ll use a projector and screen to show a virtual distillery tour, a dining room is great for this.

I’ve worked with whisky for 20 years, I’ve produced it, bottled it, marketed it, retailed it and presented it. For years I worked at the coal face of whisky production on the Isle of Islay in the Hebrides where I was Brand Home Manager at Lagavulin Distillery before becoming Distillery Manager at the largest distillery on Islay, the mighty Caol Ila. My tastings are therefore very authentic as well as being good fun.
